City-owned land near Charlotte Douglas International Airport is available for redevelopment once again.
On Monday, the city’s aviation department extended a request for information regarding the historic Steele Creek Presbyterian Church property just south of CLT. It is seeking a private-sector development partner for the preservation, redevelopment or reuse of the 11.2-acre site.
Responses are due on Dec. 15. The airport is seeking ideas on how “to honor the history of the building while creating some community benefit or financial benefit for the owner of the building.” After gathering the ideas, the airport will extend a request for proposals on how to develop the site. The property is located at 7407 Steele Creek Road.
